divisible by 4/9. Answer: 9 For example: 18 is a factor of 9 , 9x2= 18

3:A number is divisible by 8 if the number is divisible by 2 at least two /three times. Answer: three for example: 24 is a factor of 8, it is x3 8x3= 24

4:A fraction is written in lowest terms when the numerator and denomanatior no common/possible factos other than 1. Answer: Common for example: 2/3 (two thirds)

5: Numbers can/cannot be divided by 0. Answer: Cannot, for example 4 candies cannot be divided amoung 0 children.

6: Which of the following numbers are divisible by 5? Explain how you know.
482,506,955,1090,956,911. Answer: 955,1090

7: a) Use a diagram or a table to sort the following numbers according to divisibilty by 8 and 10.
700,416,3296,1720,280,190. 8- 41, 3296. 10- 700, 1720, 280,190. No common factors.
b) Uf the number of apples in a basket is divisible by 8 and 10, what is the smallest number other than 1 that it is also divisible by> How do you know?
1: 2- Well because it has to be an even number, 8 and 10 are factors of 2, 2x4=8. 2x5=10

8: Use divisibilty rules to determine the common factors for each pair of numbers.
a) 12- 6,1,2,3,4,12
b) 35- 5,1,7,35
c) 48- 8,48,24,6,12,64,1,2,3

9: Use divisibilty rules to determine the common factors for each pair of numbers.
a) 4 and 8- 1,2,4
b) 6 and 9- 1,3
c) 8 and 12- 1,2,4

10: Use divisibilty rules to determine the common factors for each pair of numbers.
a) 10 and 25- 1,5
b) 8 and 16- 1,2,4,8
c) 27 and 36- 1,3,9

11: Determine the factors of each number.
a) 16- 1,2,4,8,6
b) 24- 1,2,3,4,6,8,12,24
c) 60- 60,30,20,1,2,3,4,5,6,10,12,15

12: a) Use divisibilty rules to determine the common factors of 18 and 24. Use a Venn diagram to show your answer.
18- 9,18 . 24- 12,4,8,24. Common- 3,2,6,1
b) Identify the greatest common factor of 18 and 24 - answer: 6

13:Write the following fractions in lowest terms. Show your thinking.
a) 10/12=5/6
b)3/9=1/3
c)25/30=5/6
d)9/45=1/5
e)16/18=8/9
f)12/24=1/2

14: Desiree is buying boxes of chocolates for tables at the banquet. The people at each table will divide the chocolates equally. The tables seat 2,3,5 or 6 people. Which size of chocolate boxes will work on all tables 12 or 30? Show your thinking.
a) 30- because there is 16 people in total , and they each get 1, and there are 13 chocolates left over.

15: Yanka is teaching a swim class. She needs to divide the class into teams for a relay race. There are 18 students.
a) List all the possible sizes of the relay teams : 4.6.1.2.3.18
b) Part of the swimming pool is being used by another class. There are only 3 lanes available. Can Yanika divide her class equally into those lanes? Explain how you know.

Divisibility Rules

Divisibility Rules

Carroll Diagram- Is a table used to show how number are the same and different.

Another diagram is Venn Diagram. A Venn Diagram shows relationships between groups of number.

Common Factor
-A number that two or more number are divisible by.

eg. 4 is a common factor of 8 and 12.

Find the factors of 24.
- 1, 2,4, 8.
1 x 24 = 24 , 2 x 12 = 24, 4 x 6 =24, 8 x3 =24.
Find the factors of 32.
1, 2, 4, 8,
1 x 32 = 32 , 2 x 16 = 32, 4 x 8 =32, 8 x 3 =32.
Find the common factors of 24 and 32
- is 8.
8 x 3 =24, 8 x 4 =32.
