Notes: Algebra

1) Isolate the variable (get it by itself).
2) What you do to one side of the expression, you must do to the other.

for example:

After you get your answer, check it, using this technique:

1) Copy the equation again (A+4=10)

2) Just replace every "a'' you see with your answer for the equation (6)

You will end up with this:

Here are other examples:

B - 2 = 5
B - 2 + 2 = 5 + 2
B = 7

2j + 1 = 9
2j + 1 - 1 = 9 - 1
2j + 1 - 1 = 9 - 1
2
j=4

Here's a link to help you with it: I love algebra.
And a link to the video.

Good job Anita! This was explained clearly. But next time you should add more color and also a video. I also found a website with equation problems:(here's the link) http://ca.ixl.com/math/grade-7/does-x-satisfy-the-equation

Awesome job Anita! This really helped me a lot. Try using some colors to highlight the key words so if we have a test i know which one is which.
