Here are some examples to help you:
Pens cost $0.40
You have $6.00
Estimate how many pens you can buy. Show your thinking.
You have to make it easier for you to estimate so change $0.40 to $0.50, then now do $0.50 divided by $6.00 = 12, and if that's to hard for you then just do 5 divided by 60=12.
But you can really buy 15 pens with $6.00 if 1 pen cost $0.40.
Here is another example. You have to place the decimal in the correct position.
a) 15.4 divided by 3.6= 427778. Now lets make it easier change 15.4 and 3.6 to a easier number to divide. Now look at the example on the right side. Since the answer is 5 the decimal goes after 4 since its close, 4.27778.
