1. Annie has been asked to calculate 1.7 + 6/2. She claims the answer is 3.85. Do you agree? Explain why or why not.

Answer: I don't agree because 6/2 = 3, 1.7+3 = 4.7

2. Put brackets in the following expression to get the largest value possible. What problem solving strategy did you use? 3* 2.8 +6.4 /4.

Answer: (3*2.8) + 6.4 /4= 10

3*2.8 + (6.4 /4) = 10

3* (2.8 + 6.4) /4 = 6.9

3. Create a problem that could be solved using the following expression. 2.5+1.25+5*1.6

Answer: Katty went shopping for new outfit. She saw a top that was $2.50 then she saw a scarf that she thought would look good with the top and she bought it for $1.25. Then she bought some jewelry that was 5 bucks each. Then she added all those things together which made 8.75 then she multiplied that with 1.6 because of the tax which made it $14.00 altogether.
